Former Director's longtime ally under subpoena in new leak probe
TOP LINE: Grand Jury Subpoena Confirmed
A separate probe into alleged media leaks has subpoenaed Comey’s longtime friend, ally, and Columbia Law School professor Daniel Richman. It is widely reported the subpoena was issued by Florida prosecutors.
The revelation was first reported by Fox News.
Richman’s time as a Special Government Employee working for then-FBI Director Comey at the height of the Clinton email and Russia collusion scandals may signal the beginning of the end for the former FBI Director.
Faced with his own legal jeopardy, could Richman now turn against Comey and cooperate with federal investigators?
At the very least, it ramps up the pressure on Comey before his scheduled trial next month in North Carolina for alleged threats against President Trump.
