The Case Against Comey
Stalled by a procedural error or hanging by a thread?
TOP LINE
With the future of the criminal case against James Comey in question, this week, we take a closer look at the evidence against the former FBI Director.
I reached out to my network of contacts and spoke with six former FBI special agents. Between them they have more than 9 decades of law enforcement experience.
We asked the former agents to review dozens of records including a recent FBI report that confirmed the discovery of ‘burn bags’ at FBI headquarters containing sensitive records about multiple Trump investigations. They also reviewed the controversial FBI probe codenamed ARCTIC FROST.
Every conversation began with the same question: Were the FBI investigations into President Trump done by the book?
DEEP DIVE
Depending on your source for news, the Comey case has been temporarily slowed by a procedural error or it is on the cusp of being dismissed?

What’s not in dispute are the basic facts:
A judge questioned whether the grand jury indictment against the former FBI Director was mishandled. He also probed whether the interim U.S. attorney Lindsey Halligan was ordered to bring the case against Comey by President Trump.
After a lot of media hyperventilating, on Thursday, the Justice Department said in formal written filings that the full grand jury did in fact review the Comey indictment.
COMEY’S BEST SHOT
Comey’s large and expanding legal team has a clear strategy: To get the case thrown out BEFORE a trial because the evidence that Comey purposely leaked information to the media, and then lied about it, will be hard to refute.
