FORMER PRESIDENT OBAMA: TEMPTING TRUMP AND TEMPTING FATE
TOP LINE
This week, it became evident that former President Barack Obama could not help himself.
In an interview with comedian Stephen Colbert, whose late night show was cancelled by CBS, Obama said he worries about the “politicization” of the criminal justice system.
Obama’s comments lack self-awareness.
The 44th President is alleged to be the “architect” of weaponizing the Justice Department and FBI against Americans who rejected his progressive agenda.
The former President appears to be using one of the oldest ”inside the Beltway” strategies: accuse your political rival of crimes that you, yourself are apparently committing.
With the indictment of former FBI Director James Comey, and the likely indictment of former CIA Director John Brennan over the Russia Collusion scandal, Mr. Obama may be getting nervous about his legacy and personal legal exposure.
Is Obama tempting President Trump and also tempting fate?

DEEP DIVE
During the CBS interview with Stephen Colbert, former President Obama raised his concerns about the alleged abuse of Executive branch powers. While not mentioning President Trump by name, EVERYONE knew who Obama was talking about.
“You can't have a situation in which whoever is in charge of the government starts using that to go after their political enemies or reward their friends," Obama said.
Then the former President suggested that during his two administrations, he never abused his power as the nation’s Chief Executive. Obama’s claim, which went unchallenged by Colbert, ignores the evidence.
As just two examples, the Obama administration’s Attorney General Loretta Lynch actively downplayed the criminal nature of Hillary Clinton’s classified email scandal. Lynch routinely referred to the FBI’s criminal probe as a “matter” or “review.” Then, there was the IRS which targeted the Conservative Tea Party movement on Obama’s watch.
During Colbert’s friendly interview, Obama took the argument even further, suggesting new laws may be needed to prevent abuses of power by a President.
“We're going to have to do some basic work to return to this basic norm, and now we probably have to codify it,” Obama warned.
PRESIDENT OBAMA AND THE CONSTITUTION
It is a bizarre comment from a former Commander in Chief.
